Frequently Asked Questions
Waxing, Beautifully Considered
How long should my hair be before my appointment?
For the best results, hair should be approximately ¼ inch long—about the length of a grain of rice. If you’ve been shaving, allow 2–3 weeks of growth before your appointment.
How often should I schedule my wax?
Most guests find that every 4–6 weeks is ideal. Staying consistent with your appointments allows us to work with your natural growth cycle and can help hair become finer and softer over time.
Will waxing hurt?
Waxing is a personal experience, and some temporary discomfort is completely normal—especially during your first appointment. My technique is intentional and efficient, with your comfort always in mind.
What should I do before my appointment?
Arrive with clean skin and avoid oils, lotions, or heavy products on the area being waxed. Most importantly, allow your hair to grow rather than shaving between appointments.
What should I expect after my wax?
A little temporary redness or sensitivity is completely normal. For the first 24–48 hours, give your skin a little extra care by avoiding excessive heat, swimming, intense workouts, and tight clothing.
Can I wax while I’m on my period?
Of course. You’re welcome to keep your appointment. For Brazilian waxing, please arrive wearing a tampon or menstrual cup for comfort and hygiene.
Can I wax if I use retinol or exfoliating products?
Certain active ingredients can increase skin sensitivity and make waxing unsuitable for an area. Please let me know about any retinoids, acids, acne medications, or other active skincare products you use so I can determine whether waxing is appropriate.
Can I wax if my skin is sunburned or irritated?
For the health of your skin, waxing will not be performed over sunburned, irritated, broken, or compromised skin. Your skin deserves to be treated gently, and sometimes that means waiting until it has completely recovered.
What if I’m prone to ingrown hairs?
Consistency, proper exfoliation, and appropriate aftercare can make a significant difference. If you experience an ingrown hair, avoid picking or squeezing it and allow me to assess the area during your appointment.
